Challenge

When Top Gun: Maverick was preparing for takeoff, Paramount needed social content that could match the speed, swagger, and nostalgia of the film itself. They invited us to help concept original content to shoot with the cast during the press junket—and let’s just say we didn’t come in on autopilot. MediaNug pitched a range of punchy, talent-led ideas that leaned into the legacy of Top Gun while still feeling totally fresh for a younger digital audience. Think: snappy edits, cast chemistry, and just the right amount of “talk to me, Goose.”

Solution

Out of those concepts came what would become the top-performing social ad for the entire campaign. Shot during the junket, the video captured the film’s vibe and the personalities of the cast—no stunts, no jets, just tight scripting, smart direction, and a whole lot of charisma. MediaNug turned a limited window with talent into content that flew past expectations (and KPIs). Sometimes all you need is the right idea, the right team, and the right amount of Tom Cruise energy.
