The challenge

Hoppers was heading for a digital and Disney+ release, and Disney wanted organic content rather than a paid push. The audience for the film is specific, so a wide creator list would have wasted most of its reach on people with no interest in the subject.

The creative approach

The roster was kept small and matched tightly to the film's themes. MediaNug partnered with varied creator types, from silly animal content to outdoorsy families and comedy accounts, so the film slotted into feeds that already loved its subject matter.

Creators produced skits and lifestyle content built around Hoppers themes. MediaNug also executed two custom shoots with Tom Lizard, the character mascot, producing skit based videos made natively for TikTok and Instagram.

Frequently asked questions

Is a small creator roster ever better than a large one?

When the film or product has a specific audience, yes. Eight creators picked for topical fit produced 25 posts and more than 2M views on this campaign.

How do you pick creators for a film campaign?

Start from what their existing content is about rather than from follower count. This roster ranged from animal content to outdoorsy families and comedy accounts, all of which already overlapped with the film's themes.

Do character mascots work in creator content?

They give creators a physical thing to react to, which is easier to film than a trailer clip. Two custom shoots with the film's character mascot produced skit based videos for TikTok and Instagram.

How many posts should you expect per creator?

Around two to three on a gifting or activation campaign. Eight creators produced 25 posts here.
